For more than a century, Sea Scouting has introduced youth to the excitement, challenge, and responsibility of life on the water. Rooted in maritime tradition, the program helps young men and women develop boating skills, safety awareness, teamwork, and leadership—while fostering strong character and a deep appreciation for our nautical heritage.
Sea Scout units, known as “ships,” can be found on lakes, rivers, bays, and coastlines across the country. Each ship charts its own course, creating a blend of adventure and learning that reflects the unique opportunities offered by their local waterways. Whether Scouts are hoisting sails, practicing navigation, learning to manage a vessel, or participating in conservation and service projects, every activity builds real-world skills and confidence.
Sea Scouts is more than just a boating program—it’s a place to grow, lead, and build lifelong friendships. Youth work together as a crew, plan their own activities, and take on increasing levels of responsibility aboard ship. With the guidance of experienced adult leaders, Sea Scouts discover independence, purpose, and the thrill of mastering the water.
