Empowering Youth Across Northern Maine

The Katahdin Area Council (KAC) has been guiding generations of young people since 1920. Serving six northern Maine counties—Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Waldo, and Washington—KAC connects Scouts with outdoor adventures, leadership experiences, and supportive communities.

Our mission is simple: to develop character, citizenship, and leadership skills in every Scout. Through hands-on programs, wilderness adventures, and community service, KAC inspires youth to grow with confidence, purpose, and resilience.

Our Premier Camps

Camp Roosevelt
Located at the Katahdin Scout Reserve in Eddington, Maine, Camp Roosevelt offers traditional Scouting programs, outdoor skills training, and summer camp adventures for Scouts of all ages.

Maine High Adventure Base
Set in the Northern Maine Woods at Grand Lake Matagamon, the Maine High Adventure Base provides thrilling high-adventure experiences for older Scouts and youth leaders, including wilderness expeditions and leadership challenges.
