The Katahdin Area Council serves youth across Aroostook, Hancock, Penobscot Valley, Piscataquis, Waldo, and Washington Counties—each represented by its own district. Together, our districts form the backbone of Scouting in Maine, connecting units with training, support, leadership, and community-based programming.
District operations are volunteer-driven, from committee leadership to commissioner service. District committees help organize events, recruit leaders, provide program support, and strengthen Scouting within each community. Our commissioners offer hands-on guidance to units, ensuring leaders have the training, tools, and encouragement they need for successful Scouting experiences.
