The Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner, established by the Katahdin Area Council, Scouting America, recognizes extraordinary leadership and service by citizens in communities throughout Northern and Eastern Maine. By honoring these distinguished citizens, we send a clear message to our youth: character matters, and lives of integrity and service can inspire the next generation of leaders.
For 115 years, Scouting America has led the nation in teaching citizenship, leadership, and values. Through programs based on the Scout Oath—duty to God, duty to country, duty to others, and duty to self—Scouting helps young people develop into responsible, caring, and principled citizens.
The Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is the Council’s premier annual fundraising event, providing critical resources to support character-development programs for youth across Penobscot, Piscataquis, Aroostook, Washington, Waldo, and Hancock Counties. By participating in or supporting this dinner, you help ensure that every Scout has the opportunity to learn, grow, and make a lasting impact in their communities.
Join us in celebrating outstanding citizenship and supporting the future leaders of Northern and Eastern Maine.
