Supporting Scouting Across Northern Maine
Friends of Scouting is the Katahdin Area Council’s annual family and community fundraising campaign, raising the funds needed to provide a high-quality, cost-effective Scouting program for youth across Northern Maine.
Each year, the Council delivers programs to more than 2,400 young men and women, helping them develop leadership skills, outdoor adventure experience, and life skills that last a lifetime. Funds from Friends of Scouting support:
- Engaging Scouting programs and activities
- Training and support for adult leaders
- Monthly roundtable meetings and the Council newsletter
- Maintenance of camp properties
- The Scout Service Center, providing support to youth, units, leaders, parents, and chartered organizations
A dedicated team of volunteers and staff carefully monitors the budget, ensuring that every dollar raised maximizes the impact of Scouting in our communities. The Council’s strategic plan continues to streamline operations to deliver the best possible program efficiently and effectively.
Through the support of families, community members, and local leaders, Friends of Scouting allows Scouts to grow, explore, and lead, positively impacting both their lives and the communities around them.
